Matthew Bishop
Large Corporate Insurance and Risk Management Consultant. Based on the Philadelphia Main Line, delivering remotely across the United States, with travel to New York City as needed.
Technology opens up great opportunities to better manage risk. Matthew Bishop brings significant experience in both risk expertise and technology, helping large companies streamline their risk management function while reducing uncertainty. He advises corporate risk teams, operators, and leaders who need insurance programs that survive contact with real markets and real policy wording. His focus is large technology companies and capital-intensive footprints where construction, operations, supply chain, cyber, and specialty liability collide.
At SCOR he held a global technology role sharing risk expertise on data centers and semiconductor manufacturing on property and builders’ risk, along with other lines. He was directly involved in designing Alternative Risk Solutions for several of the largest hyperscalers in the world. As Senior Vice President and Head of SCOR Business Solutions North America, he led about five hundred fifty million dollars of written premium across a multi-line specialty platform spanning nine lines of business — general liability, cyber, tech errors and omissions, property, energy, power, construction, political risk, and EIL (environmental impairment liability) — then set underwriting strategy for the global specialty insurance team. That work included how specialty markets condition business interruption, contingent business interruption, and related time-element cover when supply-chain and campus accumulation risk is real.
Across that career he also helped shape underwriting platforms and risk platforms — the systems that intake submissions, apply guidelines, surface referrals, and give underwriters and risk teams a usable portfolio view.
He brings deep, practical knowledge of artificial intelligence as tools and capabilities: where models speed document review and triage, where underwriting judgment still decides what may bind, and how to govern AI inside insurance and risk workflows without hype. He also helps buyers think about emerging AI-related exposures alongside cyber cover, rather than treating either as an afterthought on the tower.
Earlier roles include senior property treaty underwriting at Odyssey Re and reinsurance broking at Guy Carpenter. He holds Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter and Associate in Reinsurance designations, and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Lafayette College.
Board service includes director roles on SCOR US boards for the insurance operations (GSINDA and GSNIC) and SCOR Arizona Reinsurance Company (SARC) during his SCOR tenure.
